Winter Wonderland

Walking in a Winter Wonderland….

We’ve enjoyed several snow days this year when school was cancelled.

(Snow days are the best!)

Thinking of Spring

It rained today, taking with it most of the snow.

While I know we have a few more months of winter ahead of us, it made me long for spring.

Valentine Treats – Life’s Little Pleasures

Valentine treat choices are pretty limited when you can’t eat dairy, or sugar.

So it’s a pretty big deal when you get a chocolate cupcake that was made just for you.

I went to the grocery store in search of some maple sugar candy, (Which is pretty well the only kind of candy that she can eat.) but there wasn’t any to be found.

As I looked around the store for something else I could buy her for a little treat, I saw some beautiful helium filled balloons that were part of the store’s Valentine display.

Everyone has their favourite things, and helium balloons are one of Abbie’s.

When I asked if they were for sale, I was told no, but the super kind lady GAVE me two of them to take home to her.

I put them by her bed as she lay sleeping, as a surprise for the morning.

Around midnight, I heard noises coming from her room so I went and peeked in.

She was laying wide awake in bed with a huge smile on her face.

“I woke up”, she said “and I saw them.

They are so beautiful.  I know I will never be able to go back to sleep.”

Happy Valentine’s Day

Wishing you a wonderful day.

From last year. – (I’m resisting the urge to reedit them.)

Glitter, fancy dresses, multi-coloured fingernails and a puppy make a just about perfect Valentine’s Day!

Snow Eater

Last week I caught her trying to eat a handful of  snow  she had scooped up as we were walking down the street.

“You can’t eat that” I told her.

“Why not she asked? It’s white.” (She knows about the “yellow” snow.)

“It is only clean when it is falling.” I mumbled absent mindedly.

As we walked today she looked up at me with a smile on her face.

“What?” I asked.

“It’s falling” she said.

-And I knew exactly what she was talking about.
