Newborn

Tiny life, just beginning.

Where will you go?  What will you be?

So fragile, so new.

I am in awe of your perfection.

Chickens

With great sadness, one day last week, we set “Hopper” the toad free.  Despite her care and efforts finding bugs and other little things for him to eat,  Hopper was loosing weight and was getting pale.  She cried herself to sleep that night; but a good night’s rest has a wonderful way of easing sorrows for the next morning she woke up and asked her father if she could now have a pet bird.

Out little animal lover has been spending a lot of time around our feathered friends this summer.  Four new baby chicks arrived at our neighbours house in June and Abbie loves visiting with them.  She will spend hours in their pen feeding them and coaxing them into letting her pick them up.

Loretta (the chicken) seems to quite like the affection.

Helen the chicken at 4 weeks.

Loretta at 8 weeks.
