Valentine treat choices are pretty limited when you can’t eat dairy, or sugar.
So it’s a pretty big deal when you get a chocolate cupcake that was made just for you.
I went to the grocery store in search of some maple sugar candy, (Which is pretty well the only kind of candy that she can eat.) but there wasn’t any to be found.
As I looked around the store for something else I could buy her for a little treat, I saw some beautiful helium filled balloons that were part of the store’s Valentine display.
Everyone has their favourite things, and helium balloons are one of Abbie’s.
When I asked if they were for sale, I was told no, but the super kind lady GAVE me two of them to take home to her.
I put them by her bed as she lay sleeping, as a surprise for the morning.
Around midnight, I heard noises coming from her room so I went and peeked in.
She was laying wide awake in bed with a huge smile on her face.
“I woke up”, she said “and I saw them.
They are so beautiful. I know I will never be able to go back to sleep.”
